What is Ecotourism?

 A  form  of  sustainable  tourism  within  a natural and/or  cultural  heritage area where community participation, protection   and management of natural resources, culture and indigenous knowledge and practices, environmental education and ethics, as well as economic benefits are fostered and pursued for the enrichment of host community and satisfaction of visitors.

What is Marine Protected Area (MPA)?

It is any specific marine area which has been reserved by law or other effective means and is governed by specific rules or guidelines to manage activities and protect part or the entire enclosed coastal and marine environment. One of the ICRMP milestones is to establish 50 locally managed MPAs.

What is Biodiversity?

The variability among living organisms from all sources including, inter alia, terrestial, marine and other aquatic ecosystems and the ecological complexes of which they are part (CBD).

What is NICM Program?

In accordance to EO 533, the National Integrated Coastal Management Program covers all coastal areas and marine waters, addressing the inter-linkages among ecosystems— uplands, watersheds, wetlands, and coastal areas, and the different natural and human activities and impacts on the coastal and marine ecosystem services and the environment.
