The richness of the country’s coral reefs is the main focal point of the observance of the Month of the Ocean (MOO) this May, Secretary Ramon J. P. Paje announced today.
Paje said the DENR has lined up various activities for this year’s celebration, which falls under the theme“Ang Bahura ay Kagubatan sa Karagatan, Ating Pangalagaan!” (The Coral Reefs are the Forests of the Seas, Let Us Protect Them).
CLOSE to 50 municipal coastal and fishery law enforcers from the 12 towns in Cebu participated in a Coastal and Fishery Review Course held last April 17-19 at the St. Marks Hotel in Cebu City.
The activity was endorsed by the Integrated Coastal Resource Management Project (ICRMP), a loan program from the Asian Development Bank jointly implemented by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR).
Municipal agriculturists, fishery technicians, police environment desk officers and police investigators attended the three-day training that involved basic fishery law enforcement, basic maritime law enforcement and paralegal.
